March brings the promise of Spring and new beginnings. The waking up after a long winters nap. Well, I guess that depends on where you live – for us here in the Utah mountains – spring is still another month or two away in terms of seeing the spring flowers and the fresh budding trees – but from a standpoint of Earth and Sun position – we do come into spring officially with the Vernal Equinox on March 20. The day of equal day and equal night – and then the days begin to get longer as we inch our way toward the Summer Solstice.
So here we are rounding the corner into spring – a time where Pachamama begins to renew herself. To come into new life, a new season, a new cycle. In the Andean Shamanic path there is a lineage and practice of the pampamasayok (pom-pa-ma-sigh-yolk) – the stewards and caretakers of the Earth. The ones who live in right relationship with the cycles and seasons. We want to come into right relationship with these cycles and seasons and recognize the energetic shifts that take place even if the weather outside suggests something different. The light changes, the birds sing differently, there is a new quality and vibration that happens. It is a time of Renewal!
There is a new buzz, a feeling of new beginnings for what is now available. There is a budding potential that exists. So, what is it that is budding inside? What feels like it wants to come forth? There is a certain creation energy available for us to ride the wave of. It is a perfect time to plant the seeds of what is to come. The Spring Equinox on March 20 is a beautiful time to step into mindful practice or ceremony to mark the shift and recognize our own cycles of renewal. Our own internal spring.
Ceremony is something we can all do – we all have an intrinsic knowing of how to create a sacred practice. Light a candle with full presence and intention to mark what is bursting forth within. Sit in meditation and allow yourself to visualize and experience what is percolating within. Have an outside fire and burn a stick, a prayer bundle, some journal papers, to signify your communion with yourself and spirit. Make your declaration of what you are ready to say yes to, what you are ready to step into, what you desire to see brought forth. Ceremony is about your full presence and your intention. It is not about how big and elaborate it is, or how long you spend doing your ceremony. It is all about your ability to be all in while you are in ceremony. To have all your attention and all your life force energy present for what you are doing in that moment.
As pachamama and all of nature comes into their cycles of renewal, let us also drop into our own rhythm and renewal cycles. Is it physical, emotional, spiritual? Listen to what is calling, what is budding inside. Dance the dance of renewal at this time. Open up and allow this energy to spring forth.
We will be offering our Free Equinox Community event on Monday March 20th from 6:00-8:00 pm. There are more details in the newsletter below.
Be well, be true and live the life your soul is craving!
