Everything can change and nothing has to

Whenever I start a new Medicine Wheel class or teach a weekend workshop, I always start with saying to the group – Nothing has to change and everything can. I have found over the last 2 decades of being in the Shamanic Energy Healing Arts field that the human condition tends to look at healing as “what is wrong with me that I must fix or change”? Now of course there are areas in our life where we can bring greater alignment or what we call Ayni (right reciprocity/right relationship), and in this case we can change or heal what is not working in our lives. AND I also want to point out that we are perfect as we are. The minute we look through the lens of I am broken, wounded, I have issues, there are things wrong with me, we start on the slippery slope of always looking for what is wrong. I like to look at it from the lens of bringing greater alignment or healing to the places in life that feel like they no longer serve the highest good or they are no longer in alignment for where life is at this time.
We want to come to a place where we can take an objective look at what is happening and come to a place of acceptance of what is. Now acceptance does not mean we resign ourselves to what is happening and give up - thinking “well this is what it is and there is nothing I can do”. NO! Acceptance of what is, is starting with turning toward what is and saying to ourselves “ok this is the situation at hand – this is what is currently expressing in my life” - and from there we can begin the journey of creating something different.
I have seen time and time again the place where we want to jump over what is, into something different or something new. Sometimes this is called a spiritual bypass. It is not taking the time to sit with what is and acknowledge all our feelings around what is, to say “yes I see you and see that you are here”. I have found it to be critical in our manifestation and co-creative process to come to a place of accepting what is happening in our lives so we may move through the healing process with it and then allow for the change to truly begin.
Sometimes we are so clear we don’t want what is happening and we want something else – which is great clarity - let’s get busy creating the something else – but if we do not take the time to truly honor, see and accept what is – then we jump over it – leaving the energy of the bind, density, old pattern, wounding in play. We just bury it all and begin getting busy with calling in the other, but what happens is that the old energy leaks in or infuses aspects of itself into our new creation through our shadow.
I have worked with a lot of clients where they want so badly to heal something that is going on with them, that they spend most of their life force energy pushing the thing away and have little energy left for creating and healing. So often the bridge into the greater healed state is to accept the way things are and acknowledge what is. Once we do this, we free up the energy to step into something new and use our life force energy for more of want we want to bring forth.
Nothing has to change, and everything can – maybe we can start looking at our journeys and our healing from the perspective of “what is not in alignment and what needs to come into greater alignment”? This takes the pressure off ourselves and removes the lens of looking at what is wrong with us and where all our faults are, and rather allows us to see ourselves as ever evolving soul beings having a lived experience. Knowing we live in a malleable universe, and we can dream into being that which has not yet been in form.
We are participating in the co-creation of our lives every second of every day – let's dream something incredible – Live the life your soul is craving.
